The athlete recorded her personal best of 1:54.61 last year in the British capital.

The Olympic champion finished her two-lap campaign with a triumph at the women-only Athlos meet in NYC on Friday night.

{The reigning Olympic champion, who secured bronze at the World Championships recently, excelled in an impressive victory in 1:56.53 in what was just her sixth appearance in a season impacted by a hamstring injury.

Fellow Briton and world silver medallist Georgia Hunter Bell finished second again in 1:58.33, while St Vincent's Shafiqua M. (1:58.57) secured third place.

"I've barely raced this season so it was probably easier for me to compete and want to give it something," said the 23-year-old.

"The environment at the event is crazy so it was extremely enjoyable."

The female-exclusive meet packed Icahn Stadium in its second year, bringing a festive vibe to traditional track, with musical performances and Tiffany & Co. crowns substituting traditional winners' medals.

The 23-times tennis major winner Serena W., who is wed to Athlos founder Alexis O., was on hand to award the winners with their crowns.

Last year's winners took home $60,000 (£44,603) - among the biggest cash prizes in track and field.

The competition also drew some of the sport's biggest names, as the Kenyan three-time Olympic gold medallist and global record breaker Faith K. won the mile, crossing the finish line in four hours 17.78 minutes.

American Brittany Brown, the 200m bronze winner from the recent Paris Games, secured the 100m and 200m double.
