During a defensive struggle on Sunday, the Broncos managed to secure a close win over the struggling New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter touchdown pass and kicker Wil Lutz kicked the late decisive three-pointer to seal the hard-fought win.
Dominant Performance Wins Contest
Despite recording nine sacks versus Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 after giving up a safety in the third quarter. Interestingly, the Jets could only produce a mere 82 offensive yards during the contest.
Nix, who went 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard possession that culminated in Lutz's short kick with approximately five minutes left.
Historic Struggles for Jets Attack
Despite their dismal performance, the Jets maintained the ball with a chance to score a possible winning score. However Fields was tackled on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn opted to attempt the conversion instead of calling on kicker Nick Folk for a long field-goal attempt.
Fields struggled all game, completing just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. The Jets ended up with minus-10 passing yards, the fewest in any contest since 1998.
"Our passing game was completely absent," Glenn stated after the game.
