Starting from the established world, if you head eastward, you start approaching the Capital Wasteland. That area is thoroughly developed. Ohio hasn't really been developed significantly. Therefore, Fallout 76 being set earliest in the timeline provides us numerous development possibilities. The team wanted to discover what's occurring in Ohio!

Drawing Inspiration from Previous Games

The most surprises about the game's interpretation of Ohio is that it's developed as a dry environment. The method came through organic development when the developers identified the natural intersection with The Ghoul, who functions as a mission providing vendor within the recent update.

During development we determining what this new region would feature, what the overall tone would be, and then what the signature element of the new region would evolve into, that's bounty hunting, commented the development lead. Additional Content

The new content doesn't represent the concluding major update for the online game. The studio is currently developing on the initial major 2026 update and organizing additional content extending as far as the 72nd update.
